Let’s face it – most kids’ idea of a clean room is all their belongings piled up in the corner. If you are tired of cleaning up after your kiddos day in and day out, it may be time for a storage-solution intervention. The key to designing a room that will still be fun and comfortable for your pint-sized kiddo without making more work for yourself is to tap into your creative side. There are many ways to organize your kid’s room and implement storage options into their room, without taking away from the imaginative feel of the space.

One great option is bunk beds. Not only are bunk beds fun for your kids, but they allow for additional storage space and room for toys, a desk, bookshelves, and other knick-knacks. There are a lot of ways you can add storage to a room with bunk beds, some of which your kids may even get excited about! Kids may be small in stature, but their stuff tends to take up a lot of space. Thankfully, there are many organization solutions for their rooms that won’t cost you a pretty penny. And remember, Mom’s Bunk House has a wide selection of bunk beds as well as other furniture pieces that will help you get your kids’ room together without breaking the bank.

Let’s take a look at some of the most creative ways to organize your kid’s room with plenty of storage options:

  • Use the Walls.

This is an especially good idea when you have bunk beds. Hang repurposed planter baskets or other cubbies (IKEA is a great resource for these types of items!) on the wall beneath the bunk bed to get odds and ends off the floor. This is an easy system for your kids to clean up after themselves, and they don’t require a lot of work or tools!

  • Use Simple Crates.

You can find simple wooden crates at most craft stores or big-box improvement stores. Finish the crates with a fun paint color or stain them. Once they have dried, stack or hang them in a configuration of your choice. This is a cheap and fun way to add storage to your kids’ room!

  • Create a Book Nook.

Use magazine holders, crates, or a few pieces of wood to organize all your child’s books on the shelves underneath their bunk beds. It may also be useful to use some type of label system for quick and easy access. This is a great solution, especially if your kid has a lot of odd-sized books.

  • PVC Pipe Solutions.

Glue a few PVC pipes together in different combinations and secure them to a board or the wall. This creates a lot of storage for loose items, such as pencils and crayons. You can either leave the piping white or paint them to match the colors in the room.

  • Stuffed Animal Swing.

Hanging storage for stuffed animals and other similar items is great, especially when you think outside the box. You can easily create a wooden swing that will hold your child’s toys without looking messy and boring. All you will need is a bit of hobby wood, a clothesline, and some hooks. The completed swing can either hang on a wall beside the bunk bed, or underneath, depending on how much wall space you have left!

There are many great ways to organize your kid’s room without shelling out too much cash or spending too much time. The above tips should offer you a good starting point, especially if you are looking into installing bunk beds!
